Here is the article about Steve Solomon and myself competing at Worlds! The link to the article is below the photo, but I have copied the article here as well.
I had the honor of training with Steve during his year at Duke and I could not speak more highly of him...his charisma and way of making those around him feel valued and heard, his ability to lead people and unite them under a common vision, his absolute passion, grit, and commitment to athletics, and his drive to constantly learn from everything around him are what make him a force to be reckoned with on and off the track. Check out his racing times below and through clicking the link to the Duke website.
DURHAM, N.C. – Recent Duke graduates Maddy Price and Steven Solomon are set to represent their countries in the IAAF World Championships in Doha, Qatar, starting Friday, September 27 through Sunday, October 6.
Price, currently a volunteer coach for Duke and still training with coach Mark Mueller, graduated in 2018 and will represent Canada and run the individual 400m and both the 4x400m relay and mixed relay in Doha. Price qualified for the World Champions earlier this year, running the ninth fastest 400m in Canadian history with a time of 51.56. While at Duke, Price achieved All-American status six times and broke every school record except for the 60m dash and is on every school record relay. Solomon, also a 2018 Duke graduate from the Fuqua School of Business, will not only represent his home country of Australia for his third time, but has been given the honor of being named as a captain for the Australian Team. Solomon enjoyed much success as a Blue Devil in his single graduate year with the program, earning Second Team All-American status indoors and outdoors and winning the ACC Championship gold in the outdoor 400m (45.30) and making the Commonwealth Games final in between the indoor and outdoor seasons.
Solomon broke the indoor school 400m, ACC meet record and the Australian national record (45.44) at the prelims of the ACC Indoor Championships. The Sydney, Australia, native also helped multiple relay teams etch their names in the record book, as he and the outdoor sprint medley (3:16.52) broke the school record at the Penn Relays and the outdoor 4x200m relay team (1:26.42) and the outdoor 4x400m relay team (3:12:65) posted times that are third and fifth in the Blue Devil record book, respectively.
